Refreshing review... Glad WW doesn't pull the fat over everyone's eyes (Reply to this comment)
by local93291
My comment is in reference to Weight Watcher's Online. I haven't attended Weight Watchers locally, but I've been on an online member twice.
I can't believe anyone would want to learn more about the program knowing that there are so many individuals out there who have been financially burned by this company. Weight Watchers has the worst customer support I've experienced in my longtime-use of the Internet to pay bills, make online purchases and subscribe to services. I now try to spread the word to any friends or family who are considering an online weight loss tool to look elsewhere. Take time to compare businesses.
When someone is trying to make a change in his or her life such as losing weight, it really does that person an injustice, a total disservice, to not provide a telephone number, a person to talk with about discrepancies in billing, membership terms or any other questions about the services for which someone is paying hard-earned money. How heartless can an organization be? I'd like to read their mission statement to see if they even come close to accomplishing anything they've documented within. Those at the corporate level should be ashamed of this lack of customer support.
I notice that several other weight loss businesses, including LA Weight Loss are accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but NOT Weight Watchers. Come on Weight Watchers, get with the program. Stop worrying about fattening up your corporate wallet and provide better customer service to your subscribers.

Okay, so I have a typo every now and then. Since I am not a teacher (or native speaker for that matter), I confess being guilty of such crime. I am sure you never had such thing happening to you (a spell checker would not catch either).
While you seem to take my review very personal, please keep in mind that it is an opinion, not more not less. True, people would not need such tools if they could do it without it. But the best kept secret seems to be the old wisdom that one needs exercise and healthy portions.
Which is actually my whole point, just reversed. People need to become more aware of all conveniences that make America so great and dangerous for the waist line. I did agree that WW does such thing.
Besides, can you explain to me why despite the number of available tools, magic potions etc. obesity is on the rise in most industrial nations?
After all, you didn't seem to care that I was trying to be objective, a quality that ... don't worry, I am not going there. (btw, choosing a PocketPC doesn't have to do anything with being smart)

I'm sorry, but while it is true that you CAN do this yourself, most people who need weight loss programs can't or they wouldn't NEED weight loss programs.
So WW is out to make money? Well REALLY? There's a shocker! A company who wants to make money! Why people feel that companies that provide a service should do it out of the goodness of their hearts, is beyond me. To believe that a company should not profit off of their services is at best naive, at worst...well, I won't call names because this isn't personal. (Although the name calling in the first paragraph of the review sure sounded personal, and rude...but I won't go to that level.)
I do the online program. It costs me the cost of two McDonalds meals a month. I save money in lower food costs and savings on health care. The meeting setup is much more expensive (up to $12.95 a WEEK). The tools that are provided online work well at what they do.
While WWCalc is an okay program (I've used it), it is copyright infringement and WW has the right to protect their CR. Again, to believe anything different is naive. Also, not everyone has a Palm. When you're on a budget $15 a month really does feel a bit more "do-able" than a $300 outlay for a tool you may not need. If you have a Palm and use it already, that's a different story...but not always the case. (Or if you are smart, you have a PocketPC which has a similar, but not the same program.)
So thumbs down on the review. And by the way...lose is spelled with only one O. Picky, but I'm a teacher. I get paid to correct spelling! ;)

For the first time, finding myself at 50 yrs old unable to lost 15 pounds that I gained on my own I joined WW. I do love it and in 6 weeks will reach a lifetime membership and not have to pay ever again and this is just since November but I didn't have a lot to lose. I think your ideas are great and the WW web tools are terrific also. My friends are doing this online now and I know there are gadgets that can do the work for you :) Thanks..great job. jo
