| rdpaulus's Full Review: 2000 Honda Shadow Spirit |
I bought the 1997 Honda Spirit for the clean good looks and the quality reviews in bike magazines. Having owned six Honda motorcycles, fool-proof engineering and reliability was guaranteed, and this bike has the dual-pin crank that gives smoother performance and more power than the single crank-pin version of the twin 1100cc engine. The fat rear tire, long, low look, and clean lines are easy to personalize with after-market equipment. It is fast, handles fine, rides great either two-up or single, and looks terrific on the road. Economy after break-in is around 45 mpg, with two-up most of the time. The stock mufflers are a bit too effective, and an after-market exhaust would improve the sound. The stock handlebars have very comfortable ergonomics. This is a prize motorcycle, especially at the low price.
