Great Bike? Ya, Its a great bike, But comparatively? Nope.
Great Bikes are SO good now that the bar has been raised. Kawasaki is trailing in R&D, power and quality(and creativity, Where'd they steal the headlights?). The welds are crooked. The brakes are squishy and while easy to adjust, Have no "right" setting. Too far one way or Too far another.
The truly spectacular bikes are half again as good as the Kaw. It certainly does not compete in fit and finish to a Honda. It doesn't compete in speed and handling to a Yamaha. And, at its best and given equivalent riders on a closed circuit, I doubt it would even compare to a particular 750.
Yes, You can go on SHORT commutes but only if you're young and healthy and the commute is 10 to 15 minutes. Hint of back trouble? Nuhuh, stay away.
Visits to the shop? Huh, I can't imagine that the service department is still open at a Japanese Motorcycle shop. I wouldn't expect it to go to the shop and it has not.
In the scope of cars?-Its incredibly fantastic. In the scope of Japanese motorcycles? Shop around.
