Pros: Great looks, impeccable workmanship, wonderful clutch, nice stock sound, power.
Cons: Clunky shifting into second, cold-blooded starting, need to warm her up with the choke out.
The Bottom Line: Can't be beaten for the price. Gorgeous-looking. Highly recommended.

| pgreif's Full Review: 2000 Suzuki MARAUDER 800 |
Spent months researching the mid-weights, then visited maybe 15 shops of all flavors. Didn't even consider the Marauder as the brochure pictures weren't flattering. Then at the last bike shop, a Suzuki one, I saw the Marauder....it was love at first sight. Then the wife and I sat on it. Perfect fit (I am 6'1" 185 lbs., she is 5'7" 120 lbs.) We had tried the Honda Spirit: didn't feel good at all; Kawasaki Vulcan 750: felt okay but looks '80ish; Suzuki Volusia: a great bike but felt like a logging truck; Yammy V Star: too small; Honda Shadow Ace: gorgeous but too wide. The Marauder was it. PLUS, it ended up being about $750 less than any of the others.
It has been a real fun and comfortable bike. I can't understand the less than positive reviews: perhaps Suzuki has corrected all the old complaints. The seat is great, there is NO flat spot when accelerating, it never drags a peg when cornering, it practically is "flingable," torque is impressive-only complaints are the clunk when shifting into 2nd gear and need to warm her up for a while with the choke out. I have done no high speed interstate cruising, but at 60 it is very happy. So am I!!!!
