I originally was going to buy the HD Fat Boy but had second thoughts once I took a good long hard look at the 2001 Roadstar. I'm glad I did. The Fat Boy is a fine bike, no mistake about it, but I'm not into spending a few thousand more for the "mystique" of the HD. I decided to buy the beach sand tan color 2001 Roadstar and I've never been more pleased that I did. It is an absolute joy to ride. The flow of power is like velvet with next to zero vibration. The low muffle of the exhaust at idle is perfect for my taste and comes alive at a twist of the throttle. This bike has the classic lines of yesteryear and the wire rim wheels, in my opinion, look better than the wheels of the HD Fat Boy. The bike overall is a little heavier and beefier than the Fat Boy. If your in the market for the classic cruiser but don't want to spend the extra dollars for the HD brand, BUY this bike. IMHO, this is the biggest bang for the buck and predict HD will be playing catch up in the not too distant future.
