By the time I had arrived at the dealer, I was determined to get the Camry SE. To my dismay, I was told that the SE does not come with rear fold down seats. I was disappointed. For convenience sake, I needed the option of having the rear seat fold forward, enlarging the trunk space. I then looked at the LE. However, there was also some disappointment with the LE. I was told that the LE does not come with an option for leather interior. I decided to buy the LE and upgraded the seats from an independent car seat vendor.
I have not had any problems to date. The ride is comfortable. The car is stylish. Unfortunately, no special feature puts the Camry above other sedans.
I am annoyed at the stereo system that comes standard with the LE. In particular, I have issues with the MP3 player. I was glad the stereo has MP3 capability but am not happy on the playback. I have CDROMs packed with MP3s organized by album. The player always organizes the albums by alphabetical order followed by songs by alphabetical order. If you are like me, you understand that when most albums are created, song order has importance. And, if you are like me, you have already memorized the song order of your favorite albums. However, you could spend a lot of time burning another CD where the each album title or song title is preceded by a numbering system.
Another annoyance is the limited title display during MP3 playback. The player allows you to select between various album/song title combinations or a numbered display in which the player numbered the albums and songs in alphabetical order. The problem is that the player only displays 12 characters. There are thousands of album and song titles that are longer than 12 characters. To add salt to the insult, the player does not scroll its display. You can only see the first 12 characters (including dashes and spaces) of each title. What a pity for such a descent vehicle.
