I recently rented a 2008 Camry SE with 3 miles while on vacation in Florida. It was the 2.4 4cyl with the auto trans. At first I found the seats to be very comfortable, but after 30 minutes I found the bottom part of the seat to be lacking in comfort. The cushion is not very long, and the power adjuster does not adjust the seat alot. The back rest is also poorly shaped so the seat must be reclined a lot because of the prominent lumbar (even with the lumbar control off.) The 4cyl was pretty peppy and I had no time on the freeway passing or merging. The engine was louder than I expected and the road noise was more than expected as well. The car came with the base radio, and the speakers just plain suck. I had to turn the bass off and still the speakers sounded terrible. There was so much distortion that I think the speakers were already blown, or maybe Toyota is getting them from junkyards now? The car was roomy enough and the trunk space was decent. The interior materials were of quality, but there were some things I would change if I were to design the car. The exterior had a nice shape and was more fun to look at than an accord or Taurus.
This car is probably perfect for the average family that needs a large economical car that can carry the kids and have a decent size trunk and think of a car as an appliance. But people who truly enjoy their car and enjoy driving should look elsewhere.
