Honestly, the first time I saw this movie trailer, I had no desire whatsoever to watch it. I am not a fan of violence and blood in movies, and 300 looked to be only that. My husband, however talked me into going to the movie theater to watch 300.

As the movie started, I was bored out of my mind, especially as the young Leonidas was shown receiving his Spartan training. I didn't know how I was going to make it through the entire film.

Within a few minutes however, the plot began to interest me. As the relationship of the king and queen unfolded, I was drawn into the movie. This movie that appeared to be a war movie actually had a romantic storyline running throughout it.

Instead of looking at King Leonidas as a warrior wanted to fight, I saw a King fighting because he must for his true love. Leonidas was a man that, although his barbaric style, was a gentleman and a hero. After seeing how he was able to stand against Xerxes and not give in, I had hope for Sparta and all the men fighting for it. If I lived in Sparta, I would want Leonidas as my king.

Some of the scenes in this movie did not play out as I had hoped, even so, this movie was still one that I walked out of the theater feeling great about.

There are a couple of scenes that I feel were unnecessary to the plot of the movie, such as Xerxes harem. I feel as though the writers put this nudity in the movie to draw in teenage boys or something. I did not like watching that part, and now at home, when I watch the movie, I skip that part.

I went back and watched this movie again in theaters and bought the DVD on the day it came out. I would recommend that you watch it, because even if you do not feel as this would be the movie for you, you might be surprised. I definitely was.
