Cons: ONLY THING, IT ONLY LASTED 7 MONTHS...
The Bottom Line: It was problem free for me while I had it - about seven months. Do these things have a longer life-time because if they do, I'm getting another one. Maybe.

I'M NOT A TECKIE (never will be either)...but let me share my experience.
Having decided that dial-up with it's myriad of disconnections was not for me...I did the only thing I could.I SWITCHED !
When the tech from Charter Pipeline arrived at my house he arrived with this really silver,grey and weird looking contraption...being from Florida it reminded me too quickly of JAWS! Some people call it a "fish fin". I and others say - "shark fin".
The installer had no problem installing the cable connection and I believe it took no more than 20 minutes total - may not have been that long.
For several months it went great - then "IT" happened. I had to reformat my hard drive and there went my "shark fin" set up. From numerous reformat experiences on my little Emachines I know that only a full reformat will do the trick so now I was faced with the dilema of re-installing my "fin" without any installer.
Guess what? It went beautifully. Instructions were easy as pie (even for this neophyte). There were no hang-ups, a perfect breeze! Extremely user friendly!
For several months it performed great until it began to give out. (Or so the Charter Pipeline people said). Since I rented it monthly, the "fin" I mean, they said "just come in and we'll give you a new modem."
I went by the local Charter Pipeline place only a few blocks away from my house and guess what? They gave me a Motorola SB4101 Surfboard. And I have had nothing but problems since. My pc simply refuses to accept the drivers. But that's another review.
I JUST WISH I HAD MY "SHARK FIN" BACK! If only it had lasted a little longer.
