| maurizio's Full Review: JVC GR-DVL300 Mini DV Camcorder |
The line of Jvc Digital Mini Dv cameras is truly a good deal, if you want to spend under $1700.00. And make no doubt that there are plenty of features for the camcorder enthusiasts. From the JVC's easy to use interface with it roller to control the menu to its ability to have the camera entirely manually controlled, the JVC 300-500 does offer alot for its price, but a small feature that does hinder a great deal is the sound quality and the noise level of the camera itself. Not only is there no mic, input, but also many of the 300 and 500 models have a noise zoom control, which will actually the sound onto your footage. It’s that loud. But then again, I don't use the zoom all that often, but its a nice thing for the camera to be quiet.
The image quality from the CCD is quite good especially in bright daylight, but again one of the distinguishing features that separate JVC and Sony and Canon cameras is JVC's inability to hold low light levels. When shooting indoors and in under lit conditions, the image becomes extremely grainy. This could be because JVC's lens, are far inferior to the Sony’s and canon's.
Again the price for an out-door, image capturing camera can't be beat with the JVC's price. But for any type of production or for someone who likes to fine tune their video's you may want to settle for another camera.
