When my brother and I first opened our Sony/Dolby DVD player at Christmas we weren't quite sure what it was! However, then we opened a few smaller gifts...the actual DVD's and caught on. We were really excited and pleased once it was hooked up!
The first DVD I watched was a Dave Matthews Band concert. It is absolutely awesome to see. I have always been a huge fan of DMB, but seeing this made me realize how talented they really are. The instruments sound absolutely amazing on the DVD player and Dave's voice is beautiful. Seeing a performance of them on MTV is NOTHING compared to what this DVD player can do.
I have also watched movies on it, and the best ones are the action ones. The special effects are astonishing! I have never seen anything like it! I watched "Gladiator" the other day and all I have to say is--WOW. The battle scenes are definitely not something you can see in a movie theater or at home on video!
Besides the teriffic sound, the picture is GREAT...It's much clearer than usual, and the colors are more vivid and stand out more. The sound is amazing...sometimes I actually feel like I'm at a concert or in a movie--honestly! The speakers in our basement are in the back of the room, so it's like surround sound! I'm telling you, this DVD player is awesome--I've seen some of my friends' players and I think this one stands out remarkably. (Not to mention the excellent sound when you pop a CD into it!)
At first I was a little confused with one or two of the controls on the remote, but after you get the hang of it, this thing is so easily operated! It's easier than my VCR is to work (and I'm not too good with technical things).
I'd have to say this DVD player is spectacular and I am really glad we chose it. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a DVD player--not too bad of a price, may I add!!
