| barbieca's Full Review: Sherwood RD-6106 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I bought the 6108 model receiver (this is the 6106, but it seems very similar) about three months ago and paid $100 for it. This seemed like a great deal for a DTS receiver with 100W per channel so I figured I'd give it a shot. So far, I can't believe that this is a $100 receiver. It sounds great and is loaded with features. However, I would not recommend using this without a powered subwoofer, as the receiver itself provides rather weak bass output. I coupled it with a 200W Yamaha sub and Yamaha center channel speaker and some older speakers for the front sides, and it sounds awesome, for movies and music as well. The only drawback is the ease of use factor. There are very few buttons on the receiver, but many different 'modes' in which each button performs several functions. It takes a while to learn how to adjust the speaker settings and tone levels and other things. Once you figure out the nuances of operating it, you will love this receiver and be very happy with your investment.
