Pros: Good value for money.
Cons: Doesn't always work right.
The Bottom Line: Not bad but there are better players out there now for the same price or less.

| newcreation2k's Full Review: Memorex MPD8505 Personal CD Player |
I bought this player about two years ago at Target back when they sold for $99.00 - not bad for a portable MP3 CD player with many good features.
I like the multi-line display of the ID3 Tags - that is excellent and is better than the MP3 features in my Panasonic DVD-CDR-MP3 player that cost $200.00 but offers no display of the index of MP3 data.
My Memorex unit came with an AC adapter, cassette interface for playing it in your car, AND the 12V adapter for the car's cigarette outlet - all nice features to have.
It did very well in my car... for a while!
This unit is OK up to a point. BUT it has some severe
limitations as I later found out to my consternation.
It will NOT play must variable bit rate MP3 files!
VBR is a nasty way to make MP3s but the fact is that a lot of people have ripped thousands of MP3s to his format and they will not play on this player.
The symptom is that the sounds judders on and off all the time when you try to play a VBR MP3 song.
Ater I had it about 16 - 18 months it started totally stopping and giving disk errors even though the disks
would be fine on other players.
I don't know what damaged it - perhaps it couldn't take the heat on my car. In any event I was disappointed.
There are many other far better players out there now so i don't recommend this one any more.
