mattvrablik's Full Review: Sony RM-VL700 Remote Control
Overall, this is a great remote control. The ability to custom learn commands is key for me: my TV remote does not fit a standard 'code', so that needs to be learned. Also, custom learning allows me to do things like change the way the remote works with my CD/DVD player, and also program my amplifier's volume into the CD and TV modes, allowing for much easier usage.
My only gripe? Two of them. Main gripe is that the unit is a bit large, and the backside has what I think is a goofy shape: a big narrow bulge at bottom end, then a narrow gap, and then a long wide section. This all makes for a bit of difficulty to hold and navigate the whole control with one hand, and I think a more uniform shape and width would be much easier to handle (even if they just focused on more uniformity on the back side of the control). Also, while I think the instructions are quite good, it's too bad that you have to 'unlearn' custom commands before you can 're-learn' them...it seems like it would make more sense for the new 'program' to automatically overwrite the old one.
Otherwise, this is one of the best deals on the market. If you're like me, trying to integrate 4 or 5 different devices, and deal with functions/remotes that might not be standard, you can't beat this baby for the price!
