Pros: Small unit with speaker-phone built into handset
Cons: Battery life(design) & complicated features
The Bottom Line: I would rate it higher but the most important thing is to be able to use the phone and that is tough if you run out of battery power.

| cromagnet's Full Review: Panasonic KX TG2680N 2.4 GHz 1-Line Cordless Phone |
I had a previous model of Panasonic's 900mhz cordless phone. It was a nice slim design but it did not have a loud enough ear piece and the buttons eventually did not work. (forget model)
The new elite is smaller and has slightly better reception although not as good as I had hoped. I cannot walk across the street and use it effectively.
The elite has a really nice speaker-phone built into the hand-set. It also has a jack to plug in a head-set. The handset is small & comfortable.
I don't like the complicated menu system and un-intuative use of it. Also the buttons are not clearly marked & could be labeled better. The display is small and cannot be seen easily if I am sitting at my desk with it on top of the desk.
The answering machine is also not labeled for easy erase and playback etc. So basically I find myself NOT using any of the features like the answering machine or the call history, call display etc. I'm sure it has even more features.
So basically the only thing I use it for is to talk on the hand-set usually using the speaker-phone. For this it works great for a couple of hours.
My biggest gripe is that my previous model of panasonic had an extra battery which was always left charging in the base unit. So when the hand-set battery was low I could just switch batteries on the fly making battery life a non issue. It seems like I'm currently having to charge the Elite every day. This can be a problem if both people in the house are using the phone and don't put it back on the base. You think they would have carried the dual battery feature into this new top of the line phone but I guess cost cutting was more important.
