Pros: Big Sound, motorized cd tray, CD rotational effect
Cons: Stubby remote, expensive, bulky speakers, no MP3 support
The Bottom Line: Sony's CMT-RB5 Bookshelf System is step in the right direction if you want a full sound that rivals Bose's Wave Radio.

I've owned the Sony CMT-RB5 for over a year and I have been quite pleased with it's performance.
The Good:
Sony throws in all the bells and whistles of a premium bookshelf system, as expected, you won't be disappointed. The visual features are very appealing, especially when playing CD's. The unit comes with a motorized CD tray, remote and numerous presets for radio listening. One of the strongest and most surprising is the quality sound that emmits from the speakers, it fills the whole room similar to a Bose Wave radio. The unit is easy to operate, sort of idiot-proof if you ask me.
The Bad:
One thing I don't like are the big and bulky speakers. If Bose can figure out how to get a full sound with compact speakers, industry leading Sony should be able too! Also the remote works well but it is a little stubby. In comparison to the Phillips MZ-3 remote it comes up short. The price of this unit is not very competitive with similar systems. It is on par with Bose's Wave Radio, but you don't get the same compactness.
Overall, I recommend this system for those who can afford it. It has given me and my family quite a pleasure when listening to music.
