| IdahoMom's Full Review: Sony Mavica MVC-CD300 Digital Camera |
This is my 2nd Sony Mavica camera. My first wrote to a floppy disc, and the quality of pictures and amount of photos I could get on a disc was less than desired. I purchased this new CD Mavica camera this spring, and in 5 months have taken over 2000 pictures. I absolutely love this camera! I have the resolution set as high as possible, and still manage to get well over 100 pictures per disc. I really enjoy the improved zoom, the steady shot feature, as well as the red-eye reduction and the fact that you can date stamp your photos. The only thing that has been mildly frustrating to date has been the message that a "Mavica Disc" is recommended, and the fact that you need to "initialize" a new disc before you can use it - something that always seems to happen right about the time my children are doing something cute. However, those 2 factors and the price tag are not enough for me to discourage anyone from purchasing one of these cameras. I really love the fact that you can take the CD media out of the camera and be able to place it in anybody's computer with a CD ROM drive (Something that comes in handy at Grandma's house). I managed to find a spindle of 50 of these 3" pocket CD-R's at Best Buy for only $10, which makes the disc's only 20 cents a piece, which I consider highly affordable. If I consider that had I purchased film and paid for developing of the photos I've taken in 5 months time, I've more than made up for the high price tag of this camera.
