Find another VCR and keep your receipt

Pros: Replays and rewinds are fine and it is a simple cheap unit.
Cons: it is irregular in recording programs. Mostly it just won't record consistently.
The Bottom Line: Be ready to return the unit if it starts acting poorly.

I purchased a second VCR so that I could record my programs on a VCR near my computer. Unfortunately this unit is not reliable in recording. I don't know what the problem is but as it is so inexpensive and out of the warranty, I would just get another unit rather than try to have this one repaired. Some times it will record and other time it won't. I haven't finished analyzing all the possible problems but if I can't figure out how to make it work properly, I will just buy a new unit as it would cost more that it is worth to fix this one. This is unfortunate as it seemed to be a nice unit when I bought it.
Note: The TV is connected to a cable network which is also connected to my computer cable modem. There may be electronic interference between the computer modem and VCR and I haven't eliminated this as a potential problem.
