| smrgol's Full Review: BIC America Venturi D1010R Subwoofer Speaker |
This is an excellent subwoofer of very sturdy construction. It seems to be very solidly built.
Rated at 27hz and 160 watts (89db) it's both loud and deep (esp. for the price). The sound is also fairly tight for a cheap ported enclosure, although it seems a little sluggish at times: esp. when listening to music with an extremely fast beat.
This subwoofer is a bit bulky for the sound it produces (15"x15"x15"), but its outstanding value more than makes up for it.
I'm using the sub in a mid-size dorm room at my college, under my desk. (I'm guessing that the room is about 15'x12', though I'm not exactly sure.) It does an excellent job of shaking the floor and otherwise thrilling friends and annoying neighbors.
If you have a very large room, or just want even more sound, look at the D1210R (the D1010R's older brother). It has a 12" diaphragm, is rated at 200 watts, and reaches down to 25hz (and is 18"x18"x18") (Please note that I haven't tried the D1210R myself.)
