We bought this recently after our old Blaupunkt Miami 127 went bad (it skipped in the cold). We got it on sale at Circuit City for 151.99 plus parts (so about $180.00 total). We have not had it very long but here's what we like about it so far!
Alpine is a brand we have come to trust. We put an Alpine in a different car 2 years ago and it sounds and works great. The price was very reasonable for a good quality CD player.
The volume level stays the same when you shut off and restart your car. This is usually good so you don't have to keep readjusting, but bad if someone before you likes to listen to it REALLY loud.
The display and buttons are very well lit. There is no question what you are pushing, and that makes it easier when you are driving at night.
The detachable face comes with a case. (our old one didn't, probably simply because the person before us lost it). That is convenient if you are worried about having your stereo stolen.
It is 45 watts X 4 speakers and puts out a lot of sound. The sound quality is good, with adjustable bass and treble.
It receives radio stations about as well as any. It is not satellite ready, but that's fine with us. It does have features such as an automatic preset for the area you're in. You push the button and it scans the stations in that area and programs them to your presets.
It is attractive. Like almost all new stereos now it has that futuristic or space age look to it, although not to the point of having no buttons at all (as some look like they don't). The buttons are neon green or chrome on a black face. I think it looks pretty sharp.
The price was great! $151.99 at Circuit City was the best price we found it for. (That was sale) We are extremely happy we got it and highly recommend it to anyone else.
(I believe the model we have is 7870, which this one is just a step over. . the features and wattage are about the same)
