| schoonertech's Full Review: JBL PowerValve BP300.1 Car Amp |
This was the first amplifier I bought when I got into car audio, and I am still running it today. Though not super-high quality sound reproduction, it is indeed loyal sound reproduction. It is rated at 300 watts rms at 2 ohms, which is what I have it set at, and I believe it is underrated. If it can 'pin' an Alpine Type R, you know its got plenty of power. Unlike most Amps, this one rarely gets hot, which is a testament to the case heatsink design. This is a double bonus, because it efficiently sloughs off heat while looking very cool at the same time. The only problem is adjusting the bass boost and Mv ratings. If you mount the amp, you may find yourself twisting yourself into precarious positions to make these adjustments. I suggest finding a happy medium and sticking with it.
Overall, good amp. The only component I still haven't replaced.
