I have this amp powering a pair of Infinity Perfect 12's and lemme tell you this thing kicks the s**t out of my old Rockford amp rated at 700 watts rms. I think that JBL has way under rated this amp at 600 watts rms, it sounds more like 700 or 800. This amp produces no distortion to comment on, I have the gain on mine set very very low(highly recomended to reduce distortion and preserve subs). Another very nice feature of this sub has got to be the low heat, this amp uses the whole shell of the amp as a heat sink and there is hardly any heating at all, I have mine mounted verticaly on the back of my rear seats(civic) and it has never overheated. My old Rockford would do ok for short times but a long trip with the volume up forget it, it would overheat and shut down, no such problem with the JBL. This amp is also about half the size of the Rockford, I can fit one of these, and 2 JBL p180.2's(same size) on the back of my seats as opposed to the 1 i got on there with the Rockford. Don't let this small size fool you however, this thing can make some serious power. As for power consumption, i have my 3 amps wired through a 1 farad capacitor straight into the stock electrical system in my civic, there is no dimming or fading at all even at insain volume levels. And the price, the MSRP was a little pricey for me, but I looked around the internet for a while and found an amazing deal that I just couldn't pass by, keep your eyes open! The looks are out of this world also, what is meaner looking than a black hunk of metal with a red glow radiating from it? The final verdict...JBL did an outstanding job with this amp and I'm hooked on JBL amps for life, you'll never catch me with another brand in my car.
