Pros: Great all around home theater receiver. Retains audio settings by source. Big Plus!
Cons: No tape monitor loop.
The Bottom Line: A side from watching movies with 5.1 surround, if you like to listen to 2 channel audio and appreciate good sound reproduction, look at an H/K receiver....

| bholup's Full Review: JVC RX-9010V 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I purchased this unit approx. 10 months ago ($350.00) which was an exceptional deal at the time. As this was my 1st, step into the "home theater" receiver world (5.1, DTS, DSP, and all that jazz) I was a bit overwhelmed by the connections (i.e., composite, component, s-video, coax, etc.) that were available... Ya know you can spend another $50-100 dollars in connecting cables alone! No biggie! Nevertheless, I prevailed and had the unit functioning in one nite. Learning the features of the receiver, not to mention the very comprehensive remote controller was another endeavor. This unit is great for 5.1 DVD's, VHS, etc.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
Well enough with that stuff... The reason I'm writing this review is for you 2 channel "audiophile" people. What REALLY annoys me is the fact that this unit does not provide enough equalization... It has a "built-in" programmable digital equalizer, however it only covers 40Hz-16KHz.. this may be okay under normal circumstances, however, it only allows maximum 8db gain per frequency!
Sorry, but just not enough.
Now I'm not saying that I have the ultimate ear for good sounding music, but I'm certainly not deaf either. The average person (music listener) probably wouldn't realize the lack of sound producing brillance, but for those who appreciate good sound reproduction i.e., crisp highs, good level mid's, and bass with punch, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this receiver.
Sincerely,
Brent
