| enoeske's Full Review: Yamaha HTR-5250 5.1 Channels Receiver |
Upon the purchase of the 5250 receiver I was very pleased. I plugged in yamaha's NS220 speakers which are small but sound good. I was immediately pleased with the sound and power - especially from the subwoofer. Playing DVD's allows you to choose from different imitation theater sounds - as well as plain Dolby Digital and DTS - but you can choose from adventure, sci fi, and spectacle which gives a wide sound as if you were in a large theater. There are plenty of inputs for almost any home theater. The radio has a feature that allows it to automatically search and store all available radio stations which can then be edited into any order you want. The THD%, i found, is only .05%. Outstanding!
I have a panasonic DVD player, a Samsung TXL2091F TV, Sylvania VCR, and a playstation all plugged in this receiver and it handles them all easily. The two outlets located on the back of the unit allow for other things to be plugged into it. when you turn the reciver on it turns them on. I have a disco ball plugged in currently.
The remote is perhaps, oddly enough, my favorite part of this reciever. Its a little tricky at first but very easy to learn. it controls all of my equiptment and my family TV, CD player and VCR. The bottons also glow in the dark very long so it easy to find in the dark.
I was disappointed with its lack of component video inputs however i just plugged the DVD player's video into my TV instead. There is also no optical input for CD players but you can always plug it into one of the other three that aren't in use. The fourty radio stations are grouped in groups of eight so if you want to listen to #9 then you have to change groups.
Overall it was a great buy which i got on sale for $350, and has quickly become my favorite part of my room. To find more about everything about home theaters visit www.geocities.com/enoeske
