Pros: Build quality, no distortion, decent bass & mids.
Cons: Sounds a bit boxy and muddy at times with dialogue. Poor Magnetic shielding.
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend it for normal users because of it's good looks and decent performance for the dollar.

| agathodaimon's Full Review: Acoustic Research AR PSC25 Center Speaker |
I purchased this several years ago because I needed a center channel that was magnetically shielded.
The AR PSC25 was attractive and inexpensive, so I decided on it, but hadn't listened to it before hand.
It's not a bad speaker for the price, the build quality is excellent and it's very attractive. Does a pretty good job at sound effects in movies.
The one thing I'm not happy with is dialogue. It always seems slightly "hollow" and muffled.
It really sounds as if the people are actually inside the speaker box. It could be that the DVD was recorded badly, and this speaker is showing the DVD's true colors. Or it could be that it just doesn't handle certain scenes very well. Because at times it sounds very sharp & crisp.
But when you have the volume turned up and there is all sorts of action happening, you don't even notice the boxy sound.
The magnetic shielding didn't work for my TV. I set it on top of the TV, which is where I wanted to put it. But there was still screen discoloration. Big disappointment.
So I had to find a way to incorporate it into my entertainment stand below the TV.
It's not easy either, because it's a heavy and rather large unit.
If you're not an audiophile, but need a center channel, this one works OK. Otherwise you may be disappointed.
