I purchased the Queen Size Deluxe as a cheap alternative to a mattress. I use it in a waterbed frame (due to apartment, can't use actual waterbed bladder), and it fits nicely. I was enjoying it a lot, and thought this was the best of all worlds.
It then began developing leaks. I've just put on the 5th patch in 3 weeks, and the cement is still drying. The seams on the edge of the pillars' surface (there are squarish pillars that connect top and bottom) keep tearing and developing small leaks. Usually, the whole bed will deflate in about 3-4 hours (so you wake up resting on solid ground), and is too small to hear without a little detective work.
The rest of the bed is top-notch, and would be HIGHLY rated as an occasional use item. The instructions say to use the pump for about a minute, and the bed will NOT overinflate. So far I've found that to be true, but with a fully inflated bed, I would get a leak every single day. If I underinflated it (so it felt full once I got on it), I could usually go several days without a leak.
So, the pillar seams are definitely a weak spot, as you can tell from looking at it. They just look like thinner material than the rest of the bed. A poor design for the permanent bed (although they tout it as a permanent solution).
UPDATE: 4-21-04
I've finally given up on it. I've patched it about 10 times and tried duct tape to keep holes from developing. Nothing works. I have to reinflate it every half hour or so. I wind up sleeping on a hard surface every time I wake up, and my back hurts in the morning. I'm back on my old spring mattress.
Now it's just to see if Cusomter Service will give me a hard time about giving me my money back. They can keep their bed as far as I'm concerned. I'm probably going to wind up spending a lot more, but getting a real mattress. This was just a headache from beginning to end. If you buy it, you'll wind up with holes as well, even if you follow the instructions.
