Birdfeather's Full Review: Almond Joy Bar 1.76 Oz Bar
As middle age approached I cut down on snacking drastically. However, there comes a time when one must indulge in a bit of chocolate. One of my favorites when this occurs is to buy a single Almond Joy Bar.
Almond Joy Bar 1.76 Ounces
Almond Joy Bars are made by Peter Paul which was bought out by the Hershey Company several years ago in 1988. The Almond Joy Bar is a block of coconut about 1.5 to 2 inches long with an almond on top of it that is then dipped into creamy milk chocolate. Each 1.76 ounce bar contains two bars of candy.
An Almond Joy Bar retails for around $.79 cents now. I can remember when these candy bars were only a dime! That's what inflation can do over several years (notice I didn't say decades here in order not raise any red flags concerning my age).
My Thoughts on Almond Joy Candy Bars
I love the smooth flavor of the milk chocolate that covers these bars. The coconut inside is fresh and blends well with the chocolate. That all by itself would make a good candy bar in my opinion, but they have also added an almond on top of it to add some crunch. I also say that this is the "healthy" part of the candy bar when justifying eating this.
I also like the fact that this bar of candy contains two small bars. I can eat one and save the other for another day and consume less calories. Sometimes just a bite of chocolate will do the trick.
Hershey's advertising line for Almond Joy Bar is "Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut" and I have to say that is a fitting line for this candy bar. It is also very memorable. You may find yourself singing along with the added phrase of "Sometimes You Don't", the advertising for Mounds candy bar, which is made with dark chocolate and no almond.
You could never justify a candy bar as being healthy. We eat them because we like them and too many could lead to obesity and other health problems. Almond Joy in particular contains half of the total calories are from fat. That is alarming!
Allergy Allert: This product contains almonds and is made in a plant that also processes peanuts.
