Best sound for little price

I got these on sale for only $12 at Staples after mail in rebate. I was somewhat skeptical of the quality if they were on sale that much, but after I tried them it just proves to me that if you can get something cheap at a store, it doesn’t always mean that its worthless.
I box included two small satellite speakers and a large sub plus a electrical adaptor. Setup was fairly simple; plug in the AC adapter, and connect the speakers. The two smaller satellite speakers have a attractive design, in my opinion, and look good on a desk. I put the larger sub under my desk. There are plenty of thick wires to connect everything, and I had to use twisty ties to keep everything clean.
The speakers can be turned on/off by a know on the one satellite, which also includes a volume level knob. The sub has a volume control to control the volume level of the sub alone. When I use them, the sound is usually very clear and very good coming from the satellites. Turned up, they can be very loud, and depending on the clarity of the sound source, still very clear. The sub does have a nice sound from them, but I expected more. Still for what I paid for it, its worth it. The exterior of the speakers and sub are very good and I expect them to last for a long time.
The instructions claim that the speakers can be used with playstation and portable mp3 players. I did hook it up to a Game Boy and a mp3 player, just because the sounds great, and actually these speakers will work with anything that has a external plug that fits.
I would recommend these to anyone that can still find them on sale, get a good price on them, or just need speakers and are willing to pay what the store wants for them.
