Pros: Nice sound, good price.
Cons: Haven't found one yet.
The Bottom Line: They have a great sound, and the controls, although somewhat awkward at times are great. So if you want a decent priced set of 4 speakers, buy these.

I admit it. I use my computer more than my stereo. That isn't a bad thing though...
I recently went shopping for a computer. I got everything I needed. But after I got all of that, I didn't have much left for some really nice speakers. I considered some other speakers, but because of my previous experience with Altec Lansing and under advisement from a friend, I chose these particular speakers.
I felt that it would be a waste of money to buy only two speakers, since four would provide me with much better 3d sound. I was correct about this.
These speakers were pretty cheap at the time, so it wasn't difficult to choose them over some of the others.
I took them home and plugged them in.
All of the inputs were located on the back of the subwoofer. It is a logical place to put them. I plugged the front and rear channels into the sub, and then into the sound card on the back of the computer. Then I tried them out. I had to do some adjustment to the speakers to get the best sound.
The results
I like these speakers. They have analog controls for the master volume and rear speaker volume. Other types of Altec's speakers have those nasty digital controls that don't allow you to know how high the volume on the speakers is. The power control is located on the back of the front right speaker. The subwoofer has a volume control knob on the front of it. This is an awkward place for the control, especially if you place it on the floor. Typical of many of their speaker systems, there is one big cable going to the front right speaker.
