Anna’s is not only well-known among the college set in Boston, but has won rave reviews in The Boston Herald, The Globe and has been featured on both TV Diner and Phantom Gourmet. If you’re looking to “run to the border” for an overprocessed taco-bell type fix, you aren’t going to get it at Anna’s. You’ll definitely spend less and get more.
Anna’s is proud of it’s use of fresh, high quality ingredients. The offerings include burritos, super-burritos, tacos, and quesadillas with a variety of fillings. The grilled chicken is tender, juicy, and has a smoky flavor. The beef is juicy and full of flavor. The chile verde (tender stewed pork) is tender accompanied by a mild and subtle verde sauce. The carnitas (slow roasted stringy pork) is not overly dry and it bursts with the natural flavors of the pork. The vegetables are all fresh and lightly grilled. A change from the out of the bag ingredients you’d find at Taco Bell. The options for beans are pinto, refried pinto, and black. All the beans come tender and full of taste, not soggy and overcooked. The rice is moist enough to help hold the burrito together isn’t overly seasoned so it compliments the burrito rather than interfering with the other ingredients. The salsa is a simple homemade tomato and onion bursting with flavor. No out of the jar ingredients there either! Service was friendly and helpful. I had a friend with me who had never had a burrito before and they recommended a chicken super burrito with refriend beans. She loved it!
