I've been going to this restaurant since the day it opened. In fact, I know the owner, Mike, because he used to own the Boca Grande chain of restaurants in Cambridge.
Mike is originally from San Francisco. He was looking for a career change out of the world of finance. When his sister decided to open Boca Grande in East Cambridge, he came out to help her out. This restaurant lead to a few more in the Cambridge area that were hugely popular. So much so that some people were actually eating there for lunch and dinner.
Mike decided to go off on his own, take what he learned from his experience with Boca Grande and open the Anna's Tacqueria chain. The results are wonderful.
Anna's Tacqueria is a little more yuppified than Boca Grande. The walls are a warm yellow. There are several tables inside for patrons although a lot of business is take out for a huge group of regular patrons.
The food is simple. Dominating the menu are burritos. You can get them with grilled chicken, pork, beef, or vegetarian. They come filled with beans, rice, guacamole, hot sauce (if you like) and they are rolled in wraps that are straight from Bread & Circus. They cost about $4 and they are divine. If I know that I have a late night when I may not get dinner, I like to stop there for lunch because one of these chicken burritos fill me up until breakfast the next day!
For a beverage, you can get several types of soda. I recommend the lemonade which is made fresh there. In the morning, you can stop in for coffee when they open around 10:30.
I recommend pretty much everything on the menu. I've never had a bad meal there yet. If you are looking for a good, filling meal in a casual setting that you can head to without reservations, then this place is for you. It shouldn't be a big deal to find on-street parking and it's easy to get to from the "T" (the Boston subway). It won't wreck your budget and I'm sure once you've tried it, you'll be back again.
