| damiano's Full Review: Audiovox GSM810 Cell Phone |
It was love at first sight between me and Audiovox GSM 810. I had been using an Alcatel One Touch Easy which served me very well, except for the size and weight, and the GSM 810 is really a revelation. The Alcatel was so easy to use, and so is the Audiovox. I was looking for a small, inexpensive, lightweight handphone and it is all of the above, plus a formal but solid and stylish body.
This phone wake me up silently every morning with strong vibrations, and back it up with a pleasant ring in case I'm too sleepy. The included hands-free headset works fine too and provides very clear two-way communication and is very handy while driving. The built-in speaker is powerful and clear, even in busy places. I use a good quality protective leather case which makes it even more solid and can be put down anywhere without worrying about scratch. What's more, the slim leather does not add bulk.
I love the indiglo blue screen backlight and the fast menu, really intuitive, just like my Macintosh (without the graphics, which I don't really need in a phone anyway). Love the size and weight (just a little thicker but the same weight as Nokia 8210). And the battery life fits my needs perfectly (I manage 3 days of use consistently). The signal strength is on par with Alcatel. The 10 times redial is also handy.
What do I hate about it? Nothing!
Who should buy this product? Busy executives who need no frills handphones and no need for WAP/built-in modem/organizer. If you need an organizer, I suggest you get a Palm V/Vx.
About one month after I bought this phone, two office mates followed suit.
