kamel622's Full Review: Avery Dennison 8871200 Cards Cleanedge White 2X3.5
I am not a very computer savvy person. I know how to turn my computer on, I can get from page to page and know how to use a minimum of html, so the thought of creating my own business cards was a little daunting to me.
Walking down the office aisle of Wal*Mart I came across a package that seemed to call my name ..
Avery Clean Edge Ink Jet Business Cards 2x3-1/2 Ivory 200/Pk
I looked at the back and read that these business cards promised to be Extra-sturdy, clean edge, professional looking business cards. Those were important attributes to me. I didnt want to have a business card for my daycare that looked like I had the children make them, nor did I want to have to purchase a huge amount of cards by having a professional make them. This sounded like the perfect solution for me.
Last night I set about the making of my own business card for my home business Bumble Bear Daycare. I have a logo bear that is dressed in a bee costume that my hubby found a year ago. That bear is how my daycare got its name. The name was perfect because it combines the names of my two daughters daycares. One is Tootsie Bear Daycare, the other Honeybees Hive. Mine is the combination of the bee and bear. Cute huh?
I opened up my Print Artist and set about designing the card that I wanted. Of course this was the longest part of making a business card. I tried this font and that, this color and that, imported my little bear and had to get him just the right size. Creating the card was fun and a way that I can feel a little bit creative. When I had it just how I wanted I was ready to print. I have to admit I wasnt sure how to go about doing that .and it took some time looking around and fiddling with things, but finally I figured it out and put the first sheet of ten cards into my Lexmark printer.
Avery also has a website that includes templates on the web. Although I didnt use this free service, looking at it this morning, I can see it could make designing a card a much quicker project. You can find this at www.avery.com/abrc This Business Resource Center has a lot of different templates and helpful hints. You can even do your printing from their site. Very helpful and a wonderful addition to the purchase of these cards.
You can also set up your cards in Microsoft Word. I found it easy to locate template 8371 and would have used that if I could have figured out how to import my graphic. As I said, Im not the most computer savvy person that I know. I found it easiest to set up and print in Print Artist.
About These Cards
Each sheet of the Avery Business Cards is ten heavy matte ivory finish 2 x 3 ˝ cards. I like this because you can print as few as ten or as many as the whole 200 cards in the package. Since I know I wont be handing mine out at any great rate, I printed 20 and saved my work so that I can print more when I need them.
I wasnt sure how the finished product would look and was very happy as they came out of my printer and looked like a professionally made business card.
Now, the next concern I had was how they would come apart. I didnt want to have little pieces of the paper left after perforating them from each other. I was amazed at how cleanly they come apart. No telltale rough edge or little flags of paper that would make these cards look homemade. The cards are thick and of good quality.
My Feelings
I am very pleased with how well these Avery Business Cards turned out. I enjoyed playing around and getting the exact card that I wanted and have it in my computer to use whenever I want.
The quality of the card itself is better than I thought it would be. I am so pleased that these business cards look professional and that I can hand them out with confidence.
The price is also another great selling feature. Instead of having to pay to have 500 cards printed and enduring the cost of that, I only paid $12.88 for a package that will print up to 200 cards for me. Of course, you must include in the price the cost of the ink for the printer, but the amount used is really pretty minimal so I am not concerned with that expense.
Not only can I make my cards up, but hubby is looking into opening a small business in town and could print cards for his use as well. I would much prefer we have a few cards, until we know if the business will go or not.
Im very happy with my purchase and will rely on Avery for business cards and many other office needs I may have.
