Pros: Tingling sensation, smelly, moisturizing
Cons: Takes forever to find out if it works, slight burning for a few seconds.
The Bottom Line: I don't know if I would call it a "liquid girdle," but I definitely like it.

| scoopmorris's Full Review: Avon Self Taut Cellulite Control Gel |
I am an Avon addict. I cant help it. Every time a new Avon product comes out and there is a good deal on it, I have to try it. In the most recent match up between my checkbook and Avon, I blew $35 dollars on a variety of products, including this Self-Taut gel.
So far, I have to admit I like this stuff. Part of the Avon Solutions of products, it comes in a 6.7 ounce tube with a flip lid. As a gel, I expected the stuff to be greasy and sticky. I was wrong. It was neither. Instead, it went on smooth and dried quickly.
In the place where I put it, there was a tingling sensation. I swear. It was almost a burning feeling for about five seconds. Then, it went away. That was the worst part about the gel and it only lasted a few seconds. Because I got it as part of a buy one, try one for a dollar special, I wasnt too worried about it not working. If it didnt work, I was only out about $7. The stuff originally retails for $12.99, which I wouldnt have paid for it unless I had already tried it.
Avon really knows how to draw a customer in. They have these specials to let the customer try the product, which I love. If I dont like the product, I can send it back to my Avon representative. That also applies online, but I have never bought anything online that I didnt like either. Since I like this stuff, I decided to keep it.
I knew going into the buy that I was going to have to do what they do in the commercials for shaving cream, hair products and lotions - try it on only one leg for a couple of weeks and see how it goes. So far, there are not any noticeable results except smoother skin. I guess that's what we're shooting for, since I don't have noticeable cellulite. Where my skin is normally very dry and flaky in the wintertime, it is actually a little better. It definitely doesnt itch nearly as often as the other leg.
Other results are not as noticeable. As it is called cellulite control gel I am guessing people without cellulite who dont want cellulite (Who does?) or people with cellulite who dont want it to get worse can use it. I dont have cellulite yet, but its coming. As a daughter who inherits everything from her mothers side of the family except hair, eye and skin coloring, I know it is. I figured I would stop it early. So far, its working. The bottle said to be totally affective, you must rub on daily to cellulite-prone areas for up to four weeks. A whole bottle of this stuff last four weeks, depending on how much you use, where you put it and how fat you are.
The smell of Self-Taut is kind of weird, but in a good way. It is a mixture of peppermint (which probably accounts for the tingling sensation) and Ginseng. I was pleasantly surprised. The funny thing is peppermint isnt even on the list of ingredients. Along with Ginseng, there is water; alcohol; a bunch of ingredients too long for me to write out; glycerin; caffeine (I dont know what thats for, but my leg hasnt fallen asleep all week); apple, grape and mango extract; some flower extracts; more ingredients too long for me to write; and Yellow #6 and Red #4 (of course).
This product is now on my list of Avon Must-Haves. That should say enough, since there are only a few products on that list, including the Glazewear lip stuff and nail polish.
