Sex may sell, but it does not necessarily make a good product.

Product Rating:
Pros: Nice "Manly scent", works as well as a typical deodorant.
Cons: Does not attract women like ads suggest, nor does it work as well.
The Bottom Line: This has a nice smell and overall is an average stick of deodorant. It's claims of sexual attraction are way overstated and can be inappropriate.
wilson0423's Full Review: Axe Deodorant Stick Phoenix 3oz for Men
A good antiperspirant and deodorant are essential in the hot humid weather of Houston. Axe claims to be up to the task and at the same time providing me with insanely attractive women who will attack me on sight. I have to say that this product is average in the area of keeping me dry and odor free and to my wife's intense pleasure, no women are throwing themselves at me.
The Product
Axe is a product of Unilever which makes everything from Dove products to Lipton tea. Axe deodorant stick comes in a typical 3 ounce container and is available in an assortment of "manly" scents. The stick I have right now is labeled Phoenix and gives off a citrusy lavender type smell.
Like most deodorants out there Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly is the main ingredient and composes 17.8% of this product. This chemical compound clogs sweat glands and then absorbs whatever perspiration it does not stop. It can create a yellow stain on clothing when mixed with sweat. Although considered safe there is some question about the toxicity of applying aluminum to your skin.
Axe seems to work as well as the typical antiperspirant and deodorant. It manages to keep me odor free, but the antiperspirant part of it is not quite as effective. The scent is pleasant and "manly" enough to meet my requirements.
What I do not
Not once have I had women throw themselves at me, although I am sure they are appreciative that I do not smell. Having a young preteen daughter I can say I do not like the way the ads portray women.
The television ads and even their website are filled with sexual connotations about all of the axe line of products. These seem to target a fairly young audience (Much younger than myself). The ads portray women as almost animalistic when they come into contact with anyone wearing the Axe products. They are usually attacking and rubbing themselves all over the young man, much to his delight.
I understand that sex does sell, and this product is a prime example. I just think they go a little over the top and should spend more money on their product than their marketing.
Summary
This is an average product that is marketed as a way that any young man or boy can attract beautiful women. This product does not smell significantly better than any other men's deodorant out there, nor do women throw themselves in my direction because of it. It works as well as any other deodorant out there and I would not go out of my way to recommend this to anyone.
