Diaper Champ
I received the Diaper Champ as a gift from a friend who has children and enjoyed her experience with the product. Overall, I’m quite happy with it, but there are a couple little things the company could do to really make this product perfect.
How it Works
When the dirty diaper is ready to go, you place it in this shallow hole in the top and then flip the handle. This action twists the diaper down and the bottom of the hole pushes the diaper into the trash without allowing any of the smell to surface. The Diaper Champ does a spectacular job of getting rid of the diaper without exposing the room to any additional smell from past diapers. I can’t imagine a product doing this job more efficiently.
Bags
Many diaper disposal systems require the purchase of special bags. The Diaper Champ does not. I use the same bags that I use in my kitchen trash can.
Changing the bags
My first complaint has to do with when the bag needs changing. The diaper champ is more narrow at the top where the bag hangs than it is further down. Also, the top only opens 90 degress instead of a full 180, so there are corners in the way. The result is that when it’s stuffed full of diapers it requires some maneuvering to get the bag out without ripping it. (Honestly, my husband always changes the bag, so this doesn’t bother me, but I know it bothers him.)
Size
Size Is my major complaint about this product. If it were a bit taller, it would fit a kitchen sized trash bag perfectly. As it is, the bag only ends up about half full every time the diaper champ is all the way full. Additionally if it were big enough to use the whole kitchen bag, I believe it would hold a whole week’s worth of diapers. Right now it holds about 4-5 days worth. It would just be so much nicer to only have to empty it on trash day and not have a stinky bag full of diapers hanging around until trash day.
Color
It’s white with blue trim, and can also be bought white with pink trim. The blue trim is nice but it is the only white item in my son’s jungle themed room. I wish there were more options.
Cleanability
All the surfaces are hard, smooth plastic without any weird cracks for ickiness to get stuck in. This product is easy to clean.
Final Thoughts
There are some ways this product could improve, but until it does, I do believe it to be the best diaper disposal system on the market.
