Before I purchased a breast pump, I was set on the Medela brand. I had heard nothing but praises and felt certain it was the brand "to have". I really wanted to buy the Medela Pump in Style, but was hesitant because of the price ($250+).
While researching breast pumps on the internet, I came across the Bailey's Nurture III. I learned that the Nurture III is a compact double pump and that it came highly recommended by it's owners. Not knowing anything about breast pumps other than what I had read, I was unsure about what was described as the manual control of the suction. That sounded a bit discouraging to me. However, with all of the praise and a more affordable price tag than the Medela, I decided to take a chance.
This turned out to be a great decision. The Nurture III is a very reliable and easy to use pump. I purchased the "deluxe" set with the pump plus insulated carrying case, fitted ice pack, 6 bottles & lids and instructional video. The cost was still over $100 UNDER the price of the Pump in Style. And, instead of being a drawback, the manual suction control turned out to be a great feature. I like having complete control over the length of the suction cycle... I can't imagine being happy with an automated control. The motor also has several levels of suction strengths that help the user set the pump to individual preferences.
Needless to say, I have been very happy with my choice. The Bailey's product is affordable, durable, easy to use, and easy to clean. The only thing that I would add would be a battery-pack option. Finding a secluded space near an electrical outlet can be a challenge in the workplace. Even so, it would have been a good buy at the higher price of the Medela, but it's a steal at $150.
