| maggsmomm's Full Review: Barbie Doll As Flower Ballerina from The Nutcracke... |
I took Ballet lessons from the time I was three until I left high school. Every year we had recitals and around Christmas we did the Nutcracker.
Although I never pursed a career in dancing due to injury, my love for ballet remains.
When Mattel introduced it's Classic Ballet Series I think I was the last to know. I searched high and low for the first doll in the series and she was not to be found. Alas, I found Barbie as Flower Ballerina from The Nutcracker.
I was so excited it was all I could do to contain myself! I wanted more ballet Barbies to display in my room. (yes, my room looks like a doll store!)
Barbie Doll As Flower Ballerina From The Nutcracker comes in a regular packaging which is surprising since she is a collectors addition. The outside of the box is pink with white clouds and white stars. The outer edges of the box are trimmed in gold. The front has a clear plastic casing that allows you to see her from the front and sides.
Inside the box you will find Barbie as Flower dressed in an amazing dress made of rose tulle, glittering overlays of pink, and a pink satin bodice. Her shoulder straps are covered in multi colored pink tulle with a cluster of fabric roses on her right strap.
Her dress shimmers and is absolutely gorgeous. Her pink bodice also shimmers. It is edged with pink ruffles that are very dainty and delicate.
Flower wears pink toe shoes with little pink ribbons that are wrapped and tied at her ankles. Her toe point. You can bend her legs so she can be posed in different ballet positions.
Her face is as subtle as her dress. Wearing only shimmery pink lip stick, her eyes are lined in pink with deep dark lashes. Her eyes are blue and are very prominent because of the richness of the black lashes.
The only jewelry she wears is pink bobble earrings that can be removed.
Her hair is pulled up into a pony tail on the top of her head tied with a pink ribbon. It is long and cascades down her back. She has tons of ringlets. This doll does not have blonde hair. It is almost a strawberry blonde that matches her outfit and makeup perfectly.
She comes with a display stand for collectors. I do not take my dolls out of their boxes so they will stay in mint condition if I ever decide to resale them. (doubtful).
This is one of the most beautiful dolls Barbie has produced. She is delicate, dainty, and any little girl would love to play with her. (Doodle is constantly trying to coax her out of the box!)
The warnings on this box and age recommendations vary from the other collector's additions they have released. It states that it is intended for children 3 and up, whereas most collector dolls are recommended for ages 14 and up.
Inside her box is a certificate of authenticity. If you are a collector you need to keep this on hand. These dolls generally double in value after only one year of being on the market.
Overall-I say this is a great gift for a young girl or a girl at heart. She is a little pricey but she is definitely worth every penny spent.
