Pros: great price, easy ordering, soft but supportive mattress
Cons: powerful but short-lived chemical smell
The Bottom Line: This seems like a great value for a very comfortable mattress. Ordering is unbelievably easy, shipping is prompt, although some planning is required for unpacking.

| askagainlater's Full Review: BedinaBox.com PacDown Plus Mattress |
We purchased the BedinaBox PacBed Original plus, which is the same as the PacDown Plus, but without the swank down cover. We've only had it for five days, but here's what we think so far.
Bedinabox website - pretty good overall. The Bedinabox website was easy to navigate, and had almost all the information about the mattress we wanted. A couple of complaints - some of the links on the site, to their foam supplier, were out-of-date, and it was a little challenging to figure out what the differences were between the different mattress lines. The site has a lot of information about the foam used in the mattress, where it's made, and how it's tested, which was really helpful.
Ordering the mattress - easy as pie! Ordering this mattress could not have been easier. We were able to order exactly what we wanted with no effort. Navigating the order site is easy. I placed the order for my mattress on a Saturday, received shipping confirmation on a Monday, and received the mattress on a Wednesday. I was emailed the UPS info so I could track the package and prepare for its arrival.
Unpacking and installing - easy. We ordered a Cal King mattress, which weighed in at a little over 100 pounds. It came in a large cardboard box, and inside the mattress was wrapped in a few plastic bags. Moving the box around was easy, as was opening the box and removing the plastic. Inside, the mattress is folded over, coiled up, and vacuum packed, so when you open it, the mattress will hiss as it reinflates. This is pretty neat. After a couple of hours of letting the mattress sit flat and reinflate completely, we moved it onto the bed frame. This is definitely a two-person job.
The smell - nasty, but short-lived.
For the first three days of having the bed, it gave off a fairly unpleasant chemical smell, which got better day by day. We vented our room with a fan and an open window to clear the smell for about an hour a day for the first two days(not the best thing in New England in the winter). But, after airing out the room, we were able to sleep on the bed if we had some air circulation. On day five, the smell is gone. I'd recommend a little advance planning for dealing with the smell, especially in colder weather.
The mattress - so far, it rocks!
So far, this is a fantastic deal. The price for the bed is great, and lower than most mattresses, especially if you want to go with foam. The memory foam layer is soft, but the supportive foam underneath is relatively firm. So, you get a great combination of comfy and supportive. The memory foam dampens vibration pretty well, so my boyfriend doesn't wake me up if he moves around (occasionally a problem with innerspring mattresses). So far, no problems with heat building up in the memory foam - the mattress doesn't seem either too warm or too cold - just pleasant. We've only had the bed for a few days, but so far, we're pleased. Time will tell how well the bed lasts, but we are optimistic.
