Babies generally have soft skin but even the skin of a baby can find itself in need of some moisturizing, particular during the winter season when the air is dry. One product I have used for this purpose and like very well is Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Lotion, a product used to keep your babys skin soft.
Basic Facts About This Product:
Johnson & Johnson bedtime lotion is thick and white in color, with a consistency that is similar to softened butter, but non- greasy. The lotion glides on smoothly and easily, drying in a matter of a minute or two and leaving your babys skin soft to the touch.
Along with the moisturizing qualities, this lotion also contains lavender and chamomile and the scent from these ingredients has been shown to have a calming effect on babies. They combine together with the other ingredients to create a scent that is heavenly.
Johnson & Johnson recommends massaging the lotion all over your babys body for the best effects. The lotion is mild and hypoallergenic, but J&Js still recommends against using on any baby that has allergies or asthma because the chemicals could trigger an attack.
Ingredients:
Johnson & Johnson makes this product with water, propylene glycol, myristyl myristate, olnic acid, stearic acid, glycerol stearate, polysorbate 61, isopropyl palmitate, C12-15 alykl benzoate, dimethicone, sorbitan stearate, catyl alcohol, synthetic beeswax, benzyl alcohol, methylporaben, propylporaben, BHT, butlparaben, fragrance, and sodium hydroxide.

Final Thoughts:
Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Lotion is a product I have been using for many months. I got a bottle of this for the first time along with a similar product- Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Bath. These two products are similar in smell and they generally produce the same results: Making your babys skin feel soft and smooth and also helping to calm him/her down in preparation for a good nights sleep.
Among this lotions many assets, the main one has to be the scent. It isnt as potent as the Bedtime Bath, but it is still the same, identical smell only in a somewhat toned down level of intensity. The scent is like a mixture of lavender, citrus, and other scents that make it seem like an air freshener only better. The smell is very pleasant, and its no wonder that it has the effect on babies that it does.
As far as the claim that the aroma from this lotion has a calming effect on babies, I can say that it is true, but only to an extent. The Bedtime Bath, on the other hand, puts my baby girl to sleep within minutes and definitely exceeded all my expectations when I tried it for the first time. The lotion offers the same smell, but it isnt as intense as the Bedtime Bath and that is probably part of the reason its effects are not as obvious. Also, I think the Bedtime Bath is more inducing of sleep because the baby smells it while already enjoying the relaxed feeling that only a warm bath can bring.
Another asset of this product is its effect on the skin. It really does make a difference in softness and I can easily tell the difference between baby skin with and without the use of this lotion. Even on a nasty, cold winter day, my little ones skin feels soft if she has used this lotion. And even though it is intended for babies, Johnson & Johnson recommends using on adult skin as well, to take advantage of its moisturizing qualities.
Johnson & Johnson sells this product in 9 oz. and 15 oz. packages that both feature a flip top with a small opening to squeeze out the lotion. If you need to get the lotion out more quickly, you can unscrew the cap and squeeze it out through the larger opening. I have recently learned that J&J also offers this lotion in a large 27 oz. bottle that is dispensed using a plastic pump.
I really enjoy this lotion, and my little girl likes it too. The scent is excellent, and the softening and moisture retention qualities are both better than average. It doesnt put my child to sleep the way the Bedtime Bath does, but it does offer some calming effects. I have gotten into the habit of using lotion right after a bath using the Bedtime Bath formula. The combination of the two makes for a good nights sleep and a calm, happy baby.
Overall, Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Lotion earns an easy recommendation. Even if it doesnt completely succeed in the calming department, the other positive qualities make it a product worth buying.
