My cousin told me I should try Benadryl, and after reading your review I am convinced!

I understand completely the horror you describe with that nurse. Years ago I had pneumonia and was in the hosptial for 10 days. When my 106-degree fever finally broke after 6 days, a nurse came into my room one night to perform something she said would break up the congestion. She had me roll over on my stomach, then proceeded to BEAT my back with her fists. It hurt like the devil... I was almost in tears.

The next night, a male nurse came in for the same "therapy." I dreaded the pain and told him I didn't look forward to it. He looked astonished and asked what happened. When I told him, he was shocked & angered at what the other nurse had done. He then had me lie in the same position, but rather than beat my back, he tapped. The tapping was firm, but not painful, thank goodness. I don't know if he reported the incident, but I didn't see that evil nurse for the remainder of my time there.

Most nurses are wonderful... however, not all of them as your husband and I well know.

Truly enjoyed this review, Virginia!

Thanks, Annie. I appreciate your visit. Maybe the Benadryl would have helped your anti-germ, Lysol spraying, one-toilet seat, pot smoking, car owning, passed out roommate. I believe their should be college courses called Weird Roommates #328, and you should get at least one credit hour for surviving without mayhem> You think?

of that nurse made me cringe! I'm glad you were able to remove her from your lives at the time.

I also really like the gel- I even keep in in the fridge sometimes- the coolness feels great on a swollen bite!

Thanks, Carol. I imagine that nurse wasn't too nice anywhere she went, but with her attitude I was surprised that she was permitted near anyone who was really ill.

As for my husband, that was the fourth month long stay at the hospital Lou had had in the last ten years. Each time he was sent home because there was nothing more they could do for him. Each time he rallied. I thought he would rally again.
The hospital wanted to put him in a nursing room, and on hospice, but he wanted to come home, and I wanted him home, also. He came home, but died the next night, peacefully, while I stroked his head and with our children around him. I miss him but wouldn't wish him back with all the pain that he was enduring. He was ready to go, this time. He just wanted to be at home when he left us.

I Thank You, Barbara. I don't see why a palm tree wouldn't work as long as a coconut didn't bop you on the head. I know they don't have
bears in Florida, though. Do aligators itch?

Thank you Peter. A product review - whee. I finally realized I did have a product I could talk about. Now if there were only a data base for a GE toaster- - oh well --

sure said the correct thing to the head nurse. I would report it to the hospital administration.

I'm glad the Benadryl worked.

Hope all is okay now with your hubby. Sorry to have to have read that part of your review that made even myself cry out in pain.

you should feel very comfortable writng them..:) Also the information was very useful..I'll be sure to keep some of that stuff around just in case we need it for one reason or another..Hopefully not! I wonder though, if a palm tree would work...LOL

Lorace - I sincerely thank you, Lorace. You are right. I think deliberate cruelty is practiced often and in places where it should never be practiced...especially in a hospital.

I am going to try the gell. I haven't seen it yet, but I am going to be needing another tube soon, and the gell will be my choice. Take care.

Thanks, Klueger. I can't see why the Maple trees wouldn't work as well as the Oaks. Glad you got a bit of a chuckle. I am really not to keen about doing product reviews, though, as you can probably tell.

Ada = Thank you, my friend, for stopping by. I am sorry about the trees, though. I bet the bears just eat the Benadryl and keep on messing with the trees. Sigh. I do believe it will make them sleepy, though, if that is any comfort.

Carol - Poor, Sam. Sometimes it is hard to educate these bears. But I know he is a sweety nevertheless. I just thought of a slogan - If you have an itch, it'll make Benadryl rich. I don't think they will buy that, though.

Melissa - You are so darn sweet. That nurse was something. I have heard, five years later, that she is still in that same hospital, and still being abusive. Even the Doctors have signed a petition asking that she not be assigned to their patients, but she is still there. I love hearing from you Melissa, and your poetry takes hold of me, and doesn't let me go.

Jude: Where's the oak tree? Isn't it that tall green thing growing in our back yard.

Where's the Benedryl? You ought to know - you had it last.

Would it work on Chuckie? Heck, why should it? The stuff you purchased for Chuckie (anti itch for dogs) cost more then the Benedryl, and probably doesn't taste as good.

Nothing worse than itching, and nothing worse than a sadistic nurse!

What a great review, one I know that you know what you're talking about.

Have you tried the Benedryl gel? I recently found it and like it even better than the tube!

Enjoyed this, and glad your trees are holding up!

I really got tired ... (Reply to this comment)

of the bears messing with my oak trees (it was getting to be unbearable), so I gave them all tubes of Benadryl.

I keep the Benadryl tablets around just to counter an allergy reaction -like from a wasp sting, of when my sinuses swell up from mold. I never thought of using the cream on the outside. I will try it. Thanks for the recommendation!
