| LILvoyce's Full Review: Bigelow Earl Grey Decaf Tea |
I am an avid tea drinker as you can tell from reading some of my other reviews. I am going to try them all.
Bigelow Earl Grey Tea
Your getting 20 tea bags per box. Each tea bag is individually wrapped in its own dark blue/light blue packet, and comes complete with draw strings and tags. Bigelow says that their Earl Grey tea is: "Perfectly Flavored with Natural Bergamot." There is no caffeine in this tea.
Ingredients
Black Tea, Natural Oil of Bergamot
Preparation
Please take note that this tea is to only steep 1-2 minutes, unlike some of their other teas. I like it either 1 or 2 minutes.

How does this stuff taste?
Well yeah, what I said in my title was true. I opened up a packet of this tea and smelled it right from the package and oh boy!! I was afraid to drink it at first. This stuff smelled like a mix between a Georgia Pine tree and a gallon of paint thinner. I am not kidding!
I am so lucky that smelled disappeared for the most part while it was steeping. I love black tea, but have never experienced oil of bergamot before. I had guessed that was the culprit that was stinking up my black tea.
Anyway.. Once it is brewed and steeped for 1-2 minutes it produces a very dark cup of tea. The smell then starts to smell more like a lemon Pinesol.. (I promise this review isn't bad.) It really did though.
I took a sip without sweetener. It tasted just like a plain black tea, bold and full of character. I decided to add some sweetener. One packet of Splenda to 6 oz of hot tea was not enough. I tried 2, and that barely sweetened it. I liked it that way. I am wanting to say that this tea sort of taste bold, strong, full bodied, with a sort of lemony flavor without the tartness. This tea is about flavor, and not fluff. I am so shocked that I absolutely love this tea. There was no bitterness, or bite to this dark full bodied tea.
It goes well with or without sweetener. The more sweetener you add, it starts to taste a bit flowery. It tastes wonderful hot or cold, served with cream, or with sweetened condensed milk (only a teaspoon or two.) I could drink this tea every day, I am that impressed. I would serve this tea any time of day. I would have never guessed this tea was decaff. There is no loss in flavor here.
Overall
This tea stinks until it has been brewed, and then still smells a bit funny. I would give it ten stars though if it were possible, because the taste is so wonderful. Your getting a full bodied tea, with lots of flavor, no bitterness, and can be served any way you like with excellent results. This is a great tea for those who are trying to watch their weight: No carbs, calories, or nutritional value.
