Pros: The length of the hose is awesome. Does pick up non-doghair pretty well.
Cons: DIRTY, MESSY, back-heavy, only empties 1/2 of what gets filled with junk...
The Bottom Line: I had such high hopes for this vacuum but got so frustrated by it! There has GOT to be something better! NOT recommended!

| kannef's Full Review: Bissell Velocity Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum |
If you don't vacuum regularly or usually have a lot to vacuum (i.e. dog hair), DON'T get the Velocity!
I just bought it last week after lots of research and going to several stores to look at vacuums, and I thought it would be great. I thought bagless would be awesome. It's not.
Usually I can vacuum in my normal clothes when I get home from work and not get dirty, but the other day I vacuumed with the new Velocity and ended up covered from head to toe in dust and the vacuum was covered as well, and I felt like I needed another vacuum to clean up this vacuum!
The fatal flaw in the Velocity is that the empty bucket only empties the bottom half of what can be filled. So when you pull it out to empty, unless you have kept an eye on it with every stroke of the vacuum, it is likely full above the bucket part that empties and a whole bunch of dust and yuck falls down and gets all over the floor and vacuum and you have to re-vacuum that when you're done emptying it (but you have to have another vacuum to get to the part under the bucket as you can't use the Velocity to vacuum when the bucket is out!). Plus a bunch of stuff (dog hair, fluffy material) stays up above the empty-able part and you have to use your fingers to clean it out. I emptied it 3x when vacuuming only one level of our small town home, and it did this to me each time.
Also, it is very back-heavy, so when I was using the hose (which is AWESOME and long, part of why I got this vacuum), the vacuum kept falling over backwards even when I wasn't pulling on the hose. It hit my walls, my coffee table, my dinner table, and almost fell on my dog before I caught it. It was very frustrating.
It has the "wide path" on each side, but to do that it has an area between the main brush area and the small side brush areas that doesn't have a brush so it ended up leaving a little path of dog hair or dirt in that area that I had to wrangle the vacuum in weird patterns to get, which when vacuuming tight or small areas isn't always possible.
I ended up so dirty and so frustrated with this vacuum (I was cursing a lot by the end) that we took it apart and I am returning it to the store tomorrow. After one use, the thing looks gross and every part (inside and out) is covered in dust. You would have to take the vacuum outside or to the garage every time to empty it, which to me is incredibly inconvenient when I'm in the middle of vacuuming.
I am very disappointed. We will go out AGAIN to look at vacuums and this time I will look at the bucket to check out whether there is area that can fill above where it empties when the bucket is pulled out, and if I can't find something better, we'll return to bags as the cost is worth it vs. the time it takes with this vacuum. It took me an hour and a half to vacuum and clean up after vacuuming, whereas usually I can get it done in 20-30 minutes.
