It's a broom! No! It's a rake!

Pros: Light. Switches from blower to vac easily. Easy to empty.
Cons: Bag slips off. Vacuum tube separates.
The Bottom Line: It's a great blower/vac at a great price. Other than my two nitpicky little things, I am very pleased with the BV2500, and I recommend it.

| jtjackson's Full Review: Black & Decker Bv2500 Leaf Hog Vac 'N' Mulch Blowe... |
When my wife said she wanted a leaf blower/vacuum, I foolishly assumed she meant for herself! Although I later found out that I was wrong, my assumption influenced my purchase, since I knew she would not want a gas-powered blower/vac. My local Home Depot had 3 models, one of which was outrageously priced. The Black & Decker BV2500 looked like the right price, and it came from a company that I have had good luck with.
The Pros:
The blower has a very simple mechanism to change the "wind speed" from a delicate puff to a hurricane-force blast. It's very nice for everything from piling up leaves from all over the yard to sweeping the grass clippings on the driveway into a little pile.
The vacuum sucks up everything from grass and leaves to pine cones and small tree branches. Everything gets chopped up pretty finely, which saves on the number of bags you fill, and the number of times you have to stop to empty the bag out.
It's light. It's electric, so that's no surprise.
Switching from blower to vacuum takes about 15 seconds. Pushing one button allows the electric motor and fan to separate from the front attachment. The front attachment is what makes it either a blower or a vacuum. Snapping the front attachment on is quite easy.
The Cons:
I find that the bag falls off the vacuum attachment too easily. It's a very simple slide-and-twist operation to attach it, but I think it's just a little too easy, because it unslides-and-untwists when you're not watching. You know it happened, so you aren't likely to spend 20 minutes just mulching leaves and spreading them around, but it's still a bit annoying.
I also find that the two-piece tube for the vacuum attachment separates. The tube is really two tubes - the first slides inside the other by about 4-6 inches. Every now and then, the tubes slide apart. Again, it's easy to put back together, but annoying. I have considered screwing them together, but I have a bad feeling that if I do, I'll leave a jagged edge, and eventually the tube will clog up with debris.
The Big Picture:
The two cons don't come close to overshadowing the pros. Although I seem to have written more about the cons than about the pros, I really like the BV2500.
