Pros: Very versatile - neck saver for Mom, neck strengthener for baby.
Cons: Fabric the Boppy comes with is not removable, so it can't go in the wash.
The Bottom Line: The Boppy Pillow is a MUST have for any new Mom, breastfeeding or not. It is an absolute neck saver while feeding and it is fun for baby too!

| servin's Full Review: Boppy Pillow |
Before the birth of my first baby I dutifully trooped to Babies R' Us to make my registry list. I fully intended to breastfeed my baby and was told by experienced friends that the Boppy pillow was a a necessity for a breastfeeding Mom. So I registered for it and received a very fun looking Boppy pillow for my shower.
Within 3 days of being born, before even leaving the hospital, my baby and I decided that breastfeeding just wasn't for us. So we switched to formula and the Boppy pillow was left in the closet, still in its plastic cover...
Until about 1 week after we got home from the hospital...when my neck started to get a little stiff, and then stiffer, and then painful, and then the pain started traveling down my arm. What was going on??? I deduced that the weight of my now 9lb baby was straining my neck during feedings. Because I had nothing to rest him on....
So I removed the Boppy pillow from the "Return to Babies R' Us" pile and tried it.
It's A Miracle
...and a neck saver. The Boppy pillow fit snug around my waist. The baby lay across my arm, which was resting (not straining) on the Boppy pillow. And magically, feedings became a pleasure and not a pain (literally). You might ask why a regular pillow wouldn't accomplish the same thing.
1. The Boppy pillow fits around your waist, so it doesn't move or fall during feedings. A requirement, since interrupting my son's feedings to adjust a pillow (or any other reason) would result in a near riot on his part.
2. The Boppy pillow is the perfect size to comfortably hold your whole baby, not just their head/back.
An Added Bonus
In addition to the Boppy pillow being a neck saver for me, I also found that the Boppy is fun for my son as well. I use it for him in two ways.
1. I prop him up in it by resting his head and upper back inside the Boppy. Let's face it, sometimes it is boring for babies to be laying flat on their back. This is a fun position for talking and reading to him.
2. I use it during "Tummy" time to rest his chest and arms on. So it's a neck strengthener for him!

Colors
The Boppy pillow comes in a variety of colors, including a light-blue cloud pattern, a red or navy blue pattern with ABC's, a light pink pattern with rosebuds on it and some others. Replacement covers are available, which I recommend because the original fabric is not removable, which means you can only do spot cleaning on it.
Stores and Pricing
It is available at most baby stores including Babies R' Us and Baby Depot and is a bargain at around $20.00. You can purchase a more deluxe version called the Luxe Boppy, will run about $35.00. The difference is that the fabric is softer than the standard Boppy. To me, this is not worth the money. It is just as easy to drape a soft blanket over the Boppy if you want a softer fabric.
