lllopez's Full Review: Bosch Axxis™ WFL2090UC Front Load Washer
Change is a difficult thing for some folks. Consumers have actually become a little more likely to take chances they otherwise wouldn't with greater access to the internet. This is perhaps why Bosch appliances have taken off like they have. I have been using Bosch appliances for about six years, personally and commercially, with no complaints.
The Axxis Front Loading Series is their compact series that delivers a great deal of value for consumers with lighter or more discriminating wash criteria. The WFL2090UC is one of the current lineup of stellar washers that deserves some consideration
A Closer Look
Bosch incorporates a number of proprietary technologies into their WFL2090UC including Sensotronic Plus and Logixx Control.
Sensotronic Plus - Incorporating a number of sensors that monitor the various wash cycles, the WFL2090UC can regulate your wash cycle variables to include a:
•Suds Sensor adds additional rinse cycles to get a thorough rinse. •Unbalance Sensor adjusts the final spin cycle load up to 15 times to shift the load or simply slow the spin speed •Temperature Sensor constantly monitors wash temperature heating when necessary to maintain a steady not approximate wash temperature. •Dynamic Load Sensor - Perhaps the neatest feature, this sensor reads load levels and gives the WFL2090UC enough water to get your wash Bosch clean. This feature assures you don't use more water than is necessary which goes a long way toward water conservation and lower bills.
Logixx Control
•Water levels are controlled depending on both chosen cycle and proper levels determined for the fabric type. •Wash temperatures ranges vary for chosen individual fabric types. •Tumble action and type determines just how long and how the load is tumbled including drum reversing rhythms needed for the wash load. •Appropriate soak times are determined for loads in each cycle. •Spin/Rinses are again determined by wash load and fabric types.
While these features are seen on other washers, few have them all in one package. The wash, however, is where the rubber meets the road with the WFL2090UC. Wash cycles include:
•Regular/Cotton with Cold, Warm, Hot with Temperature and BoostPower Temperature Boost •Permanent Press with standard Cold, Warm, Hot cycles •Delicates Cycle accommodate Warm and Cold settings •Hand Washables - Warm and Cold settings •Five Wash/Rinse Temperatures throughout various cycles ( outlined in user manual)
In addition, you have the option to add Power Wash which is a more aggressive wash cycle for extra soiled wash. Quick Wash allows for a fast wash cycle, especially for small and emergency loads. Rinse Plus assures that heavier loads like jeans and towels are thoroughly rinsed.
Wash Impressions
The WFL2090UC is a wash contender to be sure. Clothes are treated to temperatures up to 161ºF with spin cycles of up to 1000 rpm, which effectively makes the dryer cycles a lot shorter translating into additional savings. They supply a foot adjustment wrench to keep the WFL2090UC level on account of the unusually high spin cycle and its propensity to need readjustment. Utilizing a level will make this periodic fine-tuning easy. The high efficiency tumblers in the 13 pound capacity stainless steel drum provide a thorough washing of even the toughest loads. With a 13.7 gallon wash cycle, you end up saving a good deal of water annually which, again, means savings. I have to say I was skeptical at first about this aspect of the wash cycle but your wash comes out clean every time proving that Bosch really did their homework here. Energy Star certification assures yet further savings on the energy side.
You will also realize a savings in the amount of detergent used as the WFL2090UC keeps detergent out of the sump, circulating it constantly in the wash cycle. You will literally use about ¼ cup of liquid detergent per load. You can also add softener and bleach into one of the three top mounted reservoirs. Again, I was leery about the low amount of detergent used but the results were clearly evident validating this benefit.
The fact that this is a stackable washer also makes the WFL2090UC is a natural for an easy conversion of an upstairs closet if you are looking to have a more conveniently placed laundry, a feature sought after in new homes which can add value to your home.
The warranty coverage extends to 5 years on the electronics, motor and cabinet rust with a one year warranty on defective component parts and labor and two year warranty on all other defective parts. This comprehensive warranty has remained intact over the years and goes a long way to assure consumer confidence.
I like Bosch appliances simply because they offer upscale technologies to help ease the mundane task of laundry. While they are not without service issues they are certainly heads and hands better from the other major appliance manufacturers. The parts distribution network, while improved, still needs to grow at a faster rate with more readily available parts, though it has improved exponentially over the past couple of years. All things considered, the Bosch WFL2090UC is a worthy contender for your washer dollars and one I would recommend.
