| nghiemr's Full Review: Braun Oral B 3d Excel Plaque Remover D17535 |
Here's my chance to tell every one to do away with their manual toothbrush and get an Oral B 3D Excel. After using this toothbrush for almost a full year, I am convinced that my oral hygiene has improved greatly. I'm sure all of you can benefit from this as well.
WHAT THE KIT INCLUDES
There several kits available for the Oral B 3D Excel. I bought the standard D17535 through Amazon.com which includes a base charger that holds four brush heads and two replacement brush heads. The D17535 XT version includes a base charger that only holds three brush heads. It comes with two replacement brush heads, an interspace brush head, and a travel case.
I bought the XT version at COSTCO as a gift for my boyfriend. He was using a lower model Braun battery-operated toothbrush. Now we have a compatible system we can use at each other's house. There are other versions available also.
HOW TO USE
Before using this tooth brush for the first time, just plug the base into the outlet, place the handle on the charger, and let it charge overnight. The green indicator on the handle lights up to let you know that it is charging.
To prevent splatters when using the brush, put the toothpaste on the brush and in your mouth before you turn it on. Then slowly go over each tooth and surface, allowing the brush to rotate sufficiently over each one. Let the FlexiSoft brush with its Long Interdental Tip bristles go between your teeth for more thorough cleaning.
FEATURES
No matter how hard you brush with a manual toothbrush, there's no way you can brush fast enough to clean as well as an electric toothbrush. The 3D Action of the Oral B 3D Excel means it not only pulsates 40,000 times in-and-out to loosen plaque, but it also rotates 7,600 times side-to-side to sweep the plaque away.
The Oral B 3D Excel has a Memory Timer which signals after two minutes of dentist-recommended brushing. Two minutes of brushing usually leaves my teeth feeling squeaky clean. You can even turn it off briefly (maybe to add more toothpaste) without resetting the timer. It also has a Pressure Sensor which stops the pulsations to prevent you from brushing too hard.
BENEFITS OF USING THE 3D EXCEL
With regular use, the 3D Excel can reverse the effects of gingivitis, help prevent gum disease, build-up of tartar, and prevent stains. I take advantage of the Two Speeds that this brush offers by occasionally using the lower speed to brush my gums. This has helped my gums become much healthier.
I notice my teeth are slightly whiter, also. The regular brushing with this deep cleaning toothbrush does not allowing stains to set on my teeth and even gets rid of old stains.
OTHER SUGGESTIONS
The only drawback of this toothbrush is that it is fairly loud, especially if you need to brush your teeth late at night. Be sure to rinse your toothbrush off thoroughly when replacing it on the base, otherwise the toothpaste residue will seep down and leave a chalky film on the charging part of the base and the area around it.
Try to avoid using pasty toothpaste. Stick with gels or ones that foam up. I especially like Mentadent. It bubbles really well and when used with the 3D Excel, the toothpaste can easily get between your teeth for more thorough cleaning.
The Flexigrip brush head have blue Indicator bristles which fade to let you know that it's time to change your brush head. A pack of three brush heads cost about $19.95 and can be found easily in major retail stores like Target.
The base can last 12 days between charges if you brush twice a day for two minutes each time, but I like keeping it continuously charged for the strongest brushing. After about six months, you should let the battery discharge completely to maintain longer battery life. I also recommend getting the travel case so you can take your electric toothbrush with you on short trips.
Worst case scenario, Braun does offer a 2-year guarantee. You can use the brush for up to 24 months. If you find that it's not for you, just return it to them in the original packaging with your proof of purchase and Braun will refund your full purchase price.
