Pros: smells nice, works to an extent
Cons: hard to apply, oily
The Bottom Line: I like that it's natural and safe, but a little too oily for my liking.

| christia's Full Review: Burt's Bees Herbal Insect Repellent 4 Floz |
Herbal Insect Repellent is a mostly natural alternative to OFF insect repellent, and the like. I especially liked the fact that it didn't come in an aerosol spray bottle, which really gets the chemicals flying, and you breathe them right in.
The strongest notes are lemongrass oil, eucalyptus oil, and citronella from what I can tell. The smell is pretty strong, but pleasant to me, though my boyfriend doesn't like it. My mom says it smells like patchouli too.
The oil is pretty heavy duty. It's not a lotion or cream or anything. It's straight oil. So you really don't need much, and I wondered if there was a way to just dab it on. The bottle comes with a regular cap or a squirt attachment. I personally put it into a small eye dropper bottle, so I could dot my daughter's arms and legs and then rub it in. Otherwise, too much oil came out at a time. Maybe a roll on top would be better?
I question the effectiveness, as we still got bites, but it did keep most of them away. Certainly better than nothing. At twilight, when the bugs are really out in full, it didn't seem to do as good a job as my OFF Skintastic.
