joylein's Full Review: Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers Watermelon 0975 oz
My lips lately have been constantly parched and in need of moisture...they have had that dry, cracked feeling that lipstick and regular lip gloss cannot soothe.
My Mom is a big fan of Burt's Bees products because of the fact that they are 100% natural and not tested on animals. That is a great reason to be a fan. I have always liked their products, but I have never been overly excited about them until I finally cracked open the tube of Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer that she put in my Christmas stocking along with an assortment of other goodies. My husband and I receive Burt's Bees products each year at Christmas, but this has been my favorite so far.
I had tried other Burt's lip balms before, but never the Lip Shimmer. I thought the little tube was especially cute and light...not bulky at all. The shade of Lip Shimmer my Mom selected for me was Watermelon, which is a fairly light, natural shade of pink that is not too dark. It has more than just a hint of color, but it is not too dark.
Because my lips have been especially dry as of lately, I decided to finally break into my tube of Lip Shimmer that I had been hoarding in my drawer. On the tube, Burt's states that the product is "The World's Best Lip Balm with a hint of Luminescent Color". Burt's does not exagerate their claims too much, as this is a great lip balm which just lightly tints the lips.
Burt's Lip Shimmer went on smooth and left my lips feeling tingly from the peppermint oil it contains. I liked the feel of it immediately. The pink watermelon color is perfect for me with my fair skin. It is very natural, but I can still see the color. There is a nice shimmer to the product which is due to the fact that it contains mica (or perhaps iron oxide, carmine, or titanium dioxide...all listed as possible ingredients, and all natural, I suppose!).
This product is silky and smooth, unlike other products which leave my lips feeling sticky and greasy. It is not flaky or cakey, either. In just a few uses, I can tell that my lips are much more moisturized. Lip Shimmer offered some much needed relief to my poor lips.
I have used Burt's Lip Shimmer nearly every day this past week, and I love it! I am addicted! I would really like to try more colors. I have to say it ranks right up there with Carmex as far as healing lip balms are concerned...
Ingredients
Normally I do not list a products ingredients because it is usually a laundry list of strange sounding chemicals. Burt's is all natural. This product contains castor oil, sunflower oil, beeswax, candelilla wax, peppermint oil, lanolin, cocoa butter, Vitamin E, camauba wax, rosemary leaf oil, and the assorted other ingredients I mentioned previously. It kind of feels good to be using such a natural product that is not tested on our animal friends...
Gotta Get It!
I cannot guarantee that you will love this product, but I think you will really like it if you try it. It is a little expensive at a little over six bucks for a relatively small tube, but I think it is worth it.
This product can be found in the natural or organic section of many grocery stores and at Target.
I would encourage any gal looking for just a hint of natural shimmer to try Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer. It comes in an assortment of colors and fits nicely in the pocket or purse!
