Cafe Europa has a great location; it's right in the middle of downtown Fort Lauderdale on beautiful Las Olas Boulevard. The area, less hectic and more laid back than most of Miami's hot spots, enhances the appeal of Broward County to tourists and natives alike. While it is by no means less interesting or alluring than Miami, this part of Broward is much easier to get to and can be just as much fun.
Any restaurant, given such a great location, could be nearly guaranteed success. However, Cafe Europa is not just any restaurant. Although it is neither trendy-looking nor fashion conscious, it manages to keep the crowds coming. It does this the old fashioned way...with its food. I have a family full of picky eaters who are experts on Italian food and they can always find something appealing on the menu that satisfies their palates.
It manages to offer these great meals at great prices as well. Because of this, Cafe Europa attracts the locals and businessmen and women on their lunch breaks, which is, I believe, the sign of a good restaurant. Tourists will eat anywhere one time, but good restaurants turn locals into repeat customers. This place manages to do this quite well.
A warning, though - if you are interested in a dressy evening out and want to spend a lot of money on a little food, this is not the place to go. Wear your shorts and have a good meal Florida style. Enjoy.
